Hearing God

Hearing God is something we can all do, it is part of our Christian heritage. The problem is most folks think only a prophet can hear as it was in the old testament, or that if you hear you must prophesy a "Thus sayeth the lord".

This is not necessarily so. God will certainly speak through those He has called to be prophets but also through those who are willing to be used by Him in prophesy, words of encouragement, edification, and exhortation. He will speak to you and I if we learn to listen. What we hear may be direction for our lives or a word for someone else but it will always be helpful and will always bear fruit such as restoration, lifting of spirits and healing or deliverance from such things as depression.
Those called to be a prophet may start out this way and over the years develop into their prophetic ministry. A prophet or someone who holds the office of prophet is someone who has been a valid and accurate prophetic voice for at least 15 or 20 years. His track record will bear him out and validate his office.

But you don't have to be a prophet or a prophet in training to hear from God. Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice." It seems today that we either have a lot of deaf sheep or a lot of sheep who aren't paying attention.---John 10:27

Scripture  records that the Lord said  "My people perish for lack of knowledge". So many of us don't even know that we can hear from God and we often go in a wrong direction because of this lack of knowledge. When some one hears from God and gets a word of knowledge or word of wisdom and are unaware that such things even exist and are available for our use, it is often attributed to Satan instead of God. This is usually done by crediting it to their "physic" ability.
If someone gets a word or thought from God through the Holy Spirit and expresses it in the world immediately someone will say," you have physic ability you should develop it". Hardly ever is anyone encouraged to seek for and develop prophetic ability.

So-called physic ability is merely a perversion of the gifting of God. One who claims this ability is simply a person whom God has gifted with prophetic abilities who is able to tap into the spiritual realm and hear but who chose to listen to the wrong side. The wrong radio station you might say and get false information. Some of these folks probably do this intentionally but many are just duped into it by well meaning people who make statements like "you are physic."
Therefore due to lack of knowledge about Gods' giving of spiritual gifts, they pursue the only avenue they perceive to be open to them, the physic realm and develop  a relationship with the demonic realm instead of God.
The unfortunate truth is that information received in this realm is not from the Holy Spirit ,but from demonic sources and will ultimately lead to fear and gross deception.
"My people perish for lack of knowledge". Why is there such a lack of knowledge? Because the church has for so long denied that the prophetic gifts even exist. So no one knows or expects anything like that to happen and when it does Satan will make sure that you get his version or explanation of how it happens and why.  When there is a lack of knowledge or a denial of the gifts existence, Satan will provide plenty of his style of reasoning --hence the physic explanation.
Ever notice that there is plenty of information on the physic phenomenon but hardly any on the prophetic revelation of God .We can't blame God, He laid it all out very plainly in scripture for us (1 Cor 12) but we just haven't believed it and made everyone aware that God does indeed speak to us today in many and varied ways.
